The Fitzgerald Home

Tom Fitzgerald is a respected architect that has used CitiLog services in buildings he has designed. When it came time to build his new home he knew CitiLog would be part of the project. Two large Tulip Poplar trees stood within the building perimeter and he had CitiLog turn these two trees into flooring for the home. This project received CitiLog Platinum Certification because the wood came back to the site that it was removed from as a finished wood product that was incorporated into the building.

Two large Tulip Poplars were located in the area where the house was to be built. The owner realized they could make a variety of finished wood products, including flooring and cling planks. A tree service company was brought in to prune off the branches and then cut the tree down to specific dimensions provided by CitiLog

CitiLog collects the logs and brings them to our mill in Pennsylvania where they will be turned into finished products for this home.

After rough cutting at our Pennsylvania mill the Poplar is air dried for up to 4 months. Air drying significantly reduces the time required for kiln drying which saves energy.

CitiLog stained the flooring Poplar planks a beautiful Cherry and delivered the finished product to the home.

The finished flooring is magnificent, and it was made from trees that once stood where the house now stands.

Wide plank Poplar flooring is very rare, and uniquely beautiful .

The flooring was stained on both sides so it made a magnificent ceiling for the floor below.
