Queens Botanical Garden

The Queens Botanical Garden's new Administration and Visitor Center is the first newly constructed building to earn LEED Platinum certification in New York. CitLog was not only involved in this building but in various projects throughout the grounds.

The new building's design required a very tall exposed vertical wall at one end. It could have been a drab element but we helped turn it into something very special. We provided rough cut Eastern Hemlock that was used for the concrete forms. The grain and knots from the Hemlock was transfered to the finished wall. The imprint of the individual planks can clearly be seen in this picture.

Up close the character of the wood can be seen in the finished concrete.

CitiLog provided numerous White Oak benches for the grounds. The exposed concrete wall detailed in the pictures above can be seen in the distance.

We constructed fencing using Eastern Hemlock.

We also made a unique picket fence out of Eastern Hemlock.
