Our
commitment to the environment reaches beyond our own organization,
and we encourage you to explore the every expanding world of Green
Design and Construction. We reorganize that without the
efforts of these organizations, or own successes would not have been
possible.
US
Green Building Council (LEED)
A non-profit organization established by members of every facet of
the building community with the intention of promoting buildings
that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy
places to live and work. Most importantly, the USGBC created and
monitors the LEED certification process.
AIA
Committee on the Environment
A non-profit organization which has a sixteen year history of
educating design professionals and the public about the protection
of the natural and built environment, and the promotion of
ecologically and socially responsible development.
Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC)
An
international not-for-profit membership-based organization that
brings people together to find solutions to the problems created by
bad forestry practices and to reward good forest management.
Rainforest Alliance
The mission of the Rainforest Alliance is to protect ecosystems and
the people and wildlife that depend on them by transforming land-use
practices, business practices and consumer behavior.
SmartWood
Certification Program
A service of the Rainforest Alliance that offers independent
auditing, certification and promotion of FSC-certified forest
products and “reclaimed and rediscovered” wood to improve forest
management by providing economic incentives to businesses that
practice responsible forestry.
